BBC and Met Office Caught in Ponzi Scam over Winter Forecast Fiasco

Disclosed documents implicate two major British institutions in a scam over ‘secret’ forecast of ‘cold’ British winter. Was a senior BBC journalist also framed?

 

With a winter death toll in the hundreds newly released evidence from the Palace of Westminster under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) proves that the BBC and Met Office are implicated in a conspiracy of global warming lies about a ‘secret’ winter forecast. The original story was covered by Autonomous Minds blog and titled, ‘BBC spins that Met Office got winter right, just kept it secret from public.’

 

 A report by a top BBC environment journalist, Roger Harrabin, implied that the UK’s Coalition government might have blocked the so-called ‘secret cold winter’ forecast.  But is there more to this story than meets the eye and have dark forces in high places conspired to frame the veteran journalist?

 

Circumstantial Evidence Points to Top Level Conspiracy

 

The FOIA disclosures released by the Cabinet Office provide circumstantial evidence of a conspiracy to mislead the public but do not explicitly show that the senior BBC journalist instigated the deception. Speculation in the blogosphere is that senior figures behind the scenes were motivated by financial gain to go along with Harrabin’s alleged shenanigans.

 

It is now widely recognized that both agencies had a strong financial motive to conspire to spin such a monumental lie and mislead the public. Long-range Met Office forecasts based on data from discredited global warming computer models have become a running joke. Meanwhile pension funds of the taxpayer-funded agencies are heavily invested in schemes reliant on belief in the man-made global warming theory. But with three record-breaking cold winters in a row public support for climate legislation has waned.

 

Nonetheless, Harrabin is now the ‘fall guy’ with his reputation in shreds. It appears from the new evidence that Harrabin had twisted the Met Office statement that there was a  “70 per cent chance of near average or colder conditions” and spun that into the lie that they had secretly forecast an “exceptionally cold early winter.” But is there more here than meets the eye?

 

Was Roger Harrabin Framed by his Bosses?

 

The BBC man is portrayed as being the author of his own downfall when he filed a freedom of information act request againt the Cabinet Office to substantiate his claim that the 2010/11 would be:

 

“…..extremely cold……. The truth is it [The Met Office] did suspect we were in for an exceptionally cold early winter, and told the Cabinet Office so in October.”

 

It sure does appear as if Harrabin, the BBC and the Met Office had together knowingly allowed innuendo to portray the Met Office as victims and the Cabinet Office as sinners for ‘suppressing’ the ‘secret cold winter’ forecast Harrabin first trumpeted.

  

However, a twist in the tail seems to come from prominent climate analyst, Steve McIntyre who rushed to defend the BBC man saying, “I’ve met Roger Harrabin and am completely confident that he behaved with total integrity in this matter. I am sure that he was misled by his sources.”

 

McIntyre’s may have a point. It was, after all, Harrabin who first filed the FOIA request. So what is Harrabin’s motive in trying to catch himself in his own ‘lie’?

 

Carbon Market Collapse Spurs Doomsayers’ Desperation

 

For a more likely guilty party perhaps we need look no further than those who have so much to gain from the global warming scam: pension fund managers.

 

In the UK the size of public sector pension liabilities has been estimated at £770bn by the Treasury and £1.18 trillion by actuaries Towers Watson. Peter Tomkins, Commission chairman and Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, warns that: "The Government has hidden behind costings which pretend that the unfunded schemes earn a return well above [market rates] … Like an unstable Ponzi scheme.”

 

The carbon trading centers in Europe and Chicago have lately come unstuck, as investors are more keenly aware of the swindles being perpetrated from within. Chicago’s Climate Exchange (CCX) shut down last October and last week the European Climate Exchange was forced to close on fears of widespread fraud.

 

In on the racket is Chairman of the Met Office, Robert Napier – the same Robert Napier who is Chairman of the Carbon Disclosure Project.

 

Napier is as hard core green as it gets. He also ran the UK branch of the WWF- an NGO that managed to infiltrate the UN’s IPCC AR4 Report with a swath of bogus non peer reviewed WWF papers exagerrating a host of environmental claims.

 

That cancer of corruption long ago afflicted the BBC that, like the Met Office, is governed by those with a strong financial motive to sustain the beleagured climate conspiracy.

 

 I first reported on their insidious back story last year (February 12, 2010) in my article, ‘Follow the money: BBC exposed in biggest climate racket on planet‘. We saw how the United Nations green machine via a consortium known as ‘UNEP FI’ has been sucking up trillions of dollars of investments from pension funds around the world.

 

UNEP FI admits that they engage in a “complex relationship” between environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, core insurance operations, and the insurance industry.

 

From that you decipher the root of the problem – a Ponzi pension plan that motivates stakeholders to sing from the same hymn sheet and all augmented from the HQ of global warming alarmism – the United Nations itself.

 

The BBC pension scheme is just one of 180 major international funds invested in UNEP FI. Then add to the mix the fact that the head of the BBC’s pension fund is none other than Peter Dunscombe – the same Peter Dunscombe who headed the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (tied with UNEP FI).

 

As  BBC Chairman Dunscombe has breached its Charter as a public corporation (1927) mandated to eschew both political and commercial influence answering only to its viewers and listeners. Dunscombe’s contempt for viewers and listeners has thus made his position untenable.

 

Nonfeasance Now Rises to Level of Criminality

 

That senior figures at the bombastic BBC and the mystic Met Office declined to confirm or deny Harrabin’s hype despite knowing the truth of the matter now implicates these sanctimonious high priests of climate theology.

 

Whether Harrabin really is a patsy for Napier and Dunscombe only time will tell. But rest assured, Dunscombe won’t stop pushing the global warming scam because he’s now short of £1billion – from a “black hole” worsened by recent gold-plated payouts to staff; further proving his disdain for taxpayers.

 

The fact that the National Grid’s Winter Outlook document ( see page 7) itself made no reference to any ‘cold’ forecast by the Met Office and that hundreds of lives have been lost and industries hit with avoidable multi-million losses elevates the issue to one of criminality with two key British government organisations in the dock.

 

Napier and Dunscombe are now both implicated in charges of malfeasance of public office. The way pro-green Prime Minister Cameron now handles this monumental scandal will show just how debased by the climate change religion he truly is, as the British public increasingly demands that high-level heads must roll.

 

 

 

Top Scientists in Heated Debate over ‘Slaying’ of Greenhouse Gas Theory

One of the greatest open debates of modern times concerning the greenhouse gas theory is set to start in earnest. Critics predict an almighty global warming showdown between ‘deniers’ and ‘doomsayers.’

 

This author, project coordinator of the recently published book ‘Slaying the Sky Dragon: Death of the Greenhouse Gas Theory’ can report that the books are igniting great controversy and temperatures are set to rise further on the blogosphere next week.

 

The authors of the two-volume publication insist that they have refuted the greenhouse gas theory of climate change. Last week an impromptu and vigorous exchange of emails was triggered among a host of luminaries from the world of climate science.

 

Key figures in the hullabaloo are Dr. Judith Curry, Lord Monckton and Roy Spencer. However, Anthony Watts of WattsUpWithThat disappointed many by quickly withdrawing from the discussion soon after it started. It was left to Monckton, Spencer and Curry to defend the established theory.

 

Others involved in the email correspondence include Richard Lindzen  of MIT, Fred Singer of SEPP, Miso Alkalaj, a mathematician and Head of the Center for Network Infrastructure at the J. Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia,  Joe Olson PE is an internationally respected science writer, Brazilian Geraldo Lino, a Brazilian geologist and author of the book ‘The Global Warming Fraud: How a Natural Phenomenon was Converted into a False World Emergency.’

 

Mainstream Book Deal in New York the Prize?

 

The books’ authors, who are currently being courted by leading lights in the New York publishing world, took umbrage at a comment Curry posted on her blog last week in which she stated,

 

"I’ve read Slaying the Sky Dragon and originally intended a rubuttal,[sic] but it would be too overwhelming to attempt this and probably pointless. " 

 

Lord Monckton quickly ran to Curry’s defense but inflamed the book’s authors with his comment, "There is unfortunately a great deal that is wrong with the book."

 

Not wishing to allow such a slight to pass this author emailed Dr. Curry and challenged her to debate the issue but she declined. However, after several days of discussion both parties finally agreed to an open debate to begin next week on Curry’s blog.

 

Thereupon, ‘Slayers’ co-author Hans Schreuder took Monckton to task for apparently making past contradictory statements of his own on the theory citing a paper where Monckton had asserted there was no greenhouse signature in the atmosphere.

 

Dr. Roy Spencer then waded in as Siddons  and Dr. Martin Hertzberg launched into what Siddons dismissed as “lukewarmists” or in other words, climate sceptics who believe that “some” warming is due to the “greenhouse” effect and that human emissions may play a part in it.

 

Dr. Martin Hertzberg has lately had a relevant new paper published on Energy and Environment further attacking the greenhouse gas theory.  

World leading independent long-range weather forecaster, Piers Corbyn of WeatherAction.com has towelled himself down and sat ‘ringside’ ready to tag team his co-authors from the ‘Slayers’ stable. But all proceedings so far have been in good spirits.

In light of Dr. Curry graciously agreeing to stage this debate Professor Claes Johnson, who was recently banned from teaching any such material to his students by the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden posted his response here.

 

Eco-lawyer Humiliated in Gaffe over Climate ‘Victims’ Lawsuit Claims

Prominent eco-lawyer gaffes in article trumpeting climate con lawsuits. Skeptics and not ‘victims’ of man-made global warming are filing the vast majority of cases.

 

The global warming charade takes a new comical twist as one mainstream news agency seeking to trumpet pro-environment legal claims becomes embroiled in an embarrassing gaffe with a piece of fluff entitled, ‘Climate change: Dogs of law are off the leash.’

 

Richard Ingham (AFP) in his ‘jaw dropping’ article promotes a non-story about potential lawsuits being filed by ‘victims’ of climate change (January 23, 2011) predicting, “Compensation for losses inflicted by man-made global warming would be jaw-dropping.”

 

However, closer examination proves claims in the story run contrary to a swath of evidence showing most lawsuits in the U.S. are against ‘back door’ EPA greenhouse gas regulations.

 

Discredited Global Warming Professor Source of Wild Claims

 

So who is Ingham’s source? None other than David Victor, director of the Laboratory on International Law and Regulation at the University of California, San Diego. Victor states, “Lawsuits in the United States related directly or indirectly almost tripled in 2010 over 2009, reaching 132 filings after 48 a year earlier.”

 

However, Victor disingenuously fails to elucidate on the details of who made those 132 filings.

 

Indeed, on closer inspection we find that over 90 of such cases are petitions filed against the EPA by opponents of the doomsaying lobbyists Victor represents. So if Victor’s aggregation is as he asserts then we may infer that more than 70 per cent of all U.S. claims are AGAINST proponents of environmental regulations.

 

A Rundown of the Key Issues and the Claimants

 

One of the most crass of the new EPA regulations petitioners are fighting is the absurd ‘Proposed Regulation Facilitating Geologic Sequestration of CO2’ which impacts consumers under the Safe Drinking Water Act by claiming that U.S. citizens need ‘protecting’ from being ‘poisoned’ from carbon dioxide in beverages such as Perrier Water.

 

Others among the 90 plus climate skeptic petitioners are the Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF), the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), the Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP), and the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI). 

 

But one of the most powerful in the list of 132 claimants is the Peabody Energy Corporation (PEC), the world’s largest coal company. PEC is in effect, challenging the right of the current U.S. federal government to introduce cap and trade regulations by the ‘back door.’

 

PEC is demanding that the EPA shall convene a full evidentiary hearing as a part of a full reconsideration of the junk science supporting so-called man-made global warming.

 

Attorneys for PEC and other large corporate litigants are determined their case is powerful enough to have all the EPA’s findings on carbon dioxide invalidated.

 

Doomsayers Desperate to Amend Laws to Evade Justice

 

Even if only a minority of such lawsuits succeeds then the prospects for proponents of the failed doomsaying cult are most grave. Apart from finding themselves hit with hefty civil penalties there is the genuine prospect of criminal charges being brought against those individuals implicated in international fraud on the largest scale ever known.

 

Prominent in the legal fight against the climate fraud is Virginia’s attorney general, Ken Cuccinelli who has been pursuing disclosure of key data and emails from the University of Virginia that may implicate discredited climatologist, Michael Mann.

 

Cuccinelli has been conducting his pre-investigation under the Virginia Fraud Against Taxpayers Act ("FATA"). If Cuccinelli gets his way this former top climatologist could be thrown behind bars.

 

But Mann is not alone. In Britain police recently announced their criminal inquiries into Climategate are "global and ongoing" after prosecutors admitted another climatologist, Professor Phil Jones, criminally subverted Freedom of Information laws. Jones escaped jail in 2010 simply on a technicality – the short statute of limitations had expired. But this year Jones may still face prosecution under the more powerful Fraud Act (2007) for conspiracy which is not limited by such a restrictive time limit.

 

Ultimately, all such legal challenges must be answered. Many, such as PEC’s address the entire body of leaked emails from ‘Climategate’ as well as those other ‘gate’ revelations including the frauds allegedly perpetrated under such sub-headings as ‘Himalayan Glaciers,’ ‘African Agricultural Production,’ ‘Amazon Rain Forests,’ ‘Melting Mountain Ice,’ ‘Netherlands Below Sea Level’ as well as those much-publicized abuses of the peer-review literature and so called ‘gray literature.’

 

Courtroom Scorecard Shows Skeptics Winning

 

So far in such courtroom battles skeptics are consistently outperforming doomsayers. In 2007 in the High Court in England Al Gore’s film, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ was found to contain nine lies and was banned from being shown in England’s schools as an objective documentary.

 

In October 2010 New Zealand skeptics inflicted a crushing courtroom defeat against a pro-green Kiwi government in Kiwigate. Lawyers for the government humiliatingly had to admit that the country did not possess an “official” temperature record otherwise it faced being found guilty of data fraud.

 

While the ongoing success of Virginia’s AG, Ken Cuccinelli in advancing his legal action against Michael Mann has forced two pro-doomsaying Democratic state senators, A. Donald McEachin and J. Chapman Petersen into desperate measures to try and get the FATA Act quickly repealed before Cuccinelli nails his Mann in court.

State Prosecutor Makes Breakthrough in Climate Case

 

The latest initiative follows hot on the heels of last week’s courtroom success for Virginia Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli against Mann’s former employers at the University of Virginia. The university squandered half a million dollars in a desperate attempt to withhold past records of Mann from Cuccinelli. A court ruling ended such shenanigans.

 

Buoyed by the success Clizbe has been able to identify over 40 ex-colleagues of Mann at the University of Virginia (U.Va) and he’s making each and everyone one of them a tempting multi-million dollar offer.

 

Clizbe first got involved in the search for whistleblowers last year at Penn State when the Climategate scandal first hit the headlines. He explains his sudden return to the action, ”I’ve been inundated with other work, so hadn’t been able to do much to support the work to uncover Mann’s activities in Virginia.”

National Search 

After last year’s whistleblower revelations of emails between climate researchers and data from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, there are on-going investigations into potential fraudulent use of grant funds in Climate Research in the US.  I am assisting interested parties who may have details of fraud in climate research to make contact with the proper authorities, and to share in the rewards paid when the funds are recovered. University of Virginia Stonewalling Search for Evidence

 

In April of last year, the Attorney General of Virginia requested the University of Virginia to produce documents related to Dr Michael Mann’s tenure at U.Va between 1999 and 2005. The State is researching the potential of fraud in Mann’s receipt of nearly half a million dollars in State grants for climate-research. It is possible that information from Mann’s time at U.Va. could also illuminate potential fraudulent receipt of federal grants in his later work, at the Pennsylvania State. U.Va refuses to cooperate, so far.

 

Whistleblower Rewards Program

 

The federal government has established vigorous programs to identify and prosecute fraudulent grant applications and administration.  The US Department of Justice (DOJ) administers the False Claims Act.  It allows rewards for those who come forward with details of grant fraud to share in the recovery of federal funds.  This reward can be as much as 30% of the total amount reclaimed.  The program is almost completely reliant on insiders to report their knowledge of the fraud in their institutions. 

 

Attorney Literally "Wrote the Book" on Fraud Recovery Lawsuits

 

Joel Hesch, Esq., of Hesch and Associates, literally wrote the book on how to report federal fraud.  He has an extensive background in representing whistleblowers in all types of federal funding fraud cases, including Educational/Research Grant Fraud.  According to Mr Hesch: "Many institutions receive grants, whether for research or educational purposes. When they lie to get the grant or keep the grant or if they use the funds for purposes outside the grant, they are liable under the DOJ program. BBC Hits UK Govt with Freedom of Information Demand in Cold Winter Forecast Fiasco

The BBC serves Freedom of Information request (FOIA) on UK Government over weather forecast failures secrecy in worst winter for 100 years.

 

In an almighty battle to salvage credibility three British government institutions are embroiled in a new global warming scandal with the BBC mounting a legal challenge to force ministers to admit the truth. Sceptics ask: Is the UK government’s climate propaganda machine finally falling apart?

 

Last week the weather service caused a sensation by making the startling claim that it was gagged by government ministers from issuing a cold winter forecast. Instead, a milder than average prediction was made that has been resoundingly ridiculed in one of the worst winters in a century.

 

With the BBC appearing to take the side of the Met Office by seeking to force the government to give honest answers, untold harm will likely befall Prime Minister Cameron’s global warming policies on energy, taxation and the environment.

 

Rift between BBC, Met Office and UK Government Grows

 

Speculation in newspapers and the blogosphere has festered for the past week as Chris Huhne, minister in charge of the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) stubbornly remain silent. I contacted the BBC’s Environment Analyst Roger Harrabin, one of the world’s senior journalists on such matters to ascertain if the Beeb had a better handle on the story.

 

Harrabin advised me, “I phoned the Met Office about this statement and the Met Office press office told me they’d given information to the Cabinet Office that we were facing an early cold winter.”

 

Mention of the ‘secret’ cold winter forecast appears in the Quarmby Report (Section 2.4) which states, "The Met Office gave ‘early indications of the onset of a cold spell from late November’ at the end of October.”

 

Giving a strong hint that a major rift appears to have opened up between Met Office chief executive, John Hirst and Climate Minister, Huhne, Harrabin further revealed, “The Beeb now has an FoI [freedom of information request] to Cabinet Office requesting verbatim info from [the] Met Office.”

 

In what may well be an orchestrated manoeuvre between the Met Office and Mark Thompson, Director-General of the BBC the freedom of information demand will heap huge embarrassment on David Cameron’s gaffe-prone coalition government.

Ministers Facing Accusations of Malfeasance of Public Office

 

If the Beeb succeeds in forcing Cameron’s government to come clean it looks probable hat government ministers intentionally conspired to withhold vital severe weather forecast information placing both lives and jobs at risk. So far losses to the UK economy linked to this year’s severe winter weather are estimated to be above £10 billion.

 

MP’s Call for Official Parliamentary Probe

 

Dr. Benny Peiser of Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF ) reports (January 10, 2011) that Liverpool MP Louise Ellman, chairman of the Transport Select committee, is angling to be appointed to head such an official parliamentary probe.

"The current winter fiasco is no longer a joke as the economic damage to the British economy as a result of the country’s ill-preparedness is running at £1bn a day and could reach more than £15 billion," said Dr Peiser, the GWPF’s Director.

But if the coalition government gives in to demands for a full inquiry, which is as likely as turkeys voting for Christmas, then no doubt heads will roll in high places.
